The Milwaukee VA is holding an outreach Nov. 15 for veterans in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure and need financial assistance.

This joint venture with the Department of Housing and Urban Development event takes place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Veteran’s Manor, 3430 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.

Barbara Gilbert, the VA’s homeless program manager, said it’s intended for those on the cusp, who need help or assistance to keep their home and get on their feet.

“It’s really intended to be a homelessness prevention event,” she said. “It’s a chance for all veterans to obtain valuable information. This is a source for help. No one is going to judge them. We just want everybody to come out if they need help.”

Numerous agencies will be on hand to discuss options and explain programs to help prevent foreclosure, as well as details on homeless programs, Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing vouchers for those homeless veterans in clinical management, and more.

For more information on the event, call Gilbert at 414-342-2224.
