Green Environmental Management System (GEMS)

In accordance with the Presidential Executive Order “Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade”  the Milwaukee VA Medical Center has implemented a Green Environmental Management System (GEMS) Program.

The GEMS program provides a framework for the VA facility to embrace good stewardship of the environment by complying with local, state and federal environmental laws, regulations, and requirements.

The Milwaukee VA Medical Center is committed to preventing pollution, minimizing wastes, conserving cultural and natural resources, saving energy, using sustainable practices, and continually improving environmental programs. This commitment is summarized in the Milwaukee VA Medical Center’s Environmental Policy Statement.
